Scotland tour: Galloway ready to push on

Brendan Galloway is keen to make the most of Sunderland’s trip to Scotland following a welcoming arrival on Wearside.

The defender played his first minutes in red and white on Sunday, as Simon Grayson’s side ramped up their pre-season preparations at Easter Road.

Goals from Wahbi Khazri and Jeremain Lens looked to have sent the Lads to victory, but an inspired comeback from Hibernian saw them earn a draw through Simon Murray and Martin Boyle.

With Livingston providing the next test at the Almondvale Stadium tonight before St Johnstone round off the Lads’ six-day stint north of the border on Saturday, Galloway, 21, has told safc.com he is relishing the chance to get to know his team-mates ahead of the 2017-18 Sky Bet Championship season.

“I think we played well as a team and I think that for most of the game we were in control of it,” he continued.

“For the second game of pre-season we saw some good stuff and hopefully now for the week in Scotland we can push on an improve.

“Most of the lads, myself included, have only done a few days back at the Academy of Light but it felt good to be back on the pitch finally this week. We just have to push on now.

“It has been very good. All the lads at Sunderland have been very nice, the people have been nice and it is a great club to play for so hopefully we can just push on now.

“It is good that all the boys are back together now so we can focus on having a good week in Scotland.

“We have got two more games and hopefully we can get wins.”
