Interview:
Wilson taking nothing for granted

Marc Wilson has warned his team-mates to take nothing for granted this Saturday against Fulham.

Sunderland return to home soil this weekend for the arrival of Chris Coleman’s former club, eyeing a second successive clean sheet after their point at Wolves last time out.

Wilson formed part of a new-look back three for Coleman’s side, as the Black Cats sunk their teeth into the wolf pack and secured a creditable point against the Sky Bet Championship leaders.

However, speaking to safc.com the Republic of Ireland defender has urged his team-mates to approach Saturday’s match at the Stadium of Light with the same resilient mentality as they look to overcome their home hoodoo.

“Every game we are playing in is massive,” he said.

“We have got to go there with the mentality and show the same resilience as we did against Wolves.

“Between now and the end of the season we will be planning on winning every game. The boys showed fantastic spirit in the game, that comes from the manager.

“We have been working on being defensively more solid and I thought we did that very well – we contained a good Wolves side for the majority of the game.

“The resilience of the boys and the willingness to run around the field was excellent,” he continued.

“We can’t take anything for granted because we have got to match the enthusiasm we showed against Wolves.

“We have got to try and play our kind of stuff, score some goals and another clean sheet would be a bonus.”
