Opta guide to Sunday's game

Super Sunday comes to Wearside this weekend as Sunderland host Manchester United (KO 1.30pm).

Jose Mourinho’s men are on the march thanks to a 20-game unbeaten run in the Premier League (W 10 D10 L0), with a top-four spot in their sights.

But the Red Devils have struggled at the Stadium of Light in recent years.

Indeed, the 13-time Premier League winners have failed to win any of their last three games at the SoL in all competitions, this after an 11-game unbeaten run on Wearside.

None of England’s nine top scorers in all competitions have found the net against United this season, including Jermain Defoe, with the Sunderland striker last scoring against the Red Devils for Spurs in March 2012.

But the England international simply loves to play at the SoL, scoring 57% of the Black Cats’ home PL goals this season.

Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored eight goals in his last seven PL matches away from home, with United winning six and losing none of their last eight top-flight outings on the road.

At home, Sunderland are winless in their last six PL games having failed to score in the last four, but the Black Cats haven’t failed to score in five consecutive league home games since May 1985.

And the Lads can take immense confidence from last season’s SoL meeting, when Wahbi Khazri and Lamine Kone inspired a memorable 2-1 win over the Manchester giants.

Sunderland need an upset, according to boss David Moyes, so watch this space…
