Januzaj on Everton

Adnan Januzaj is aiming for three points when Sunderland take on Everton at the Stadium of Light on Monday evening (KO 8pm).

Buoyed by a stellar performance against Southampton and the arrival of a close friend, Januzaj is thoroughly enjoying life on Wearside and he can’t wait for the Premier League season to resume.

On Monday the Black Cats will take on an Everton side who are unbeaten in their opening four games, but the Belgium international believes that home advantage can be crucial as Sunderland aim for their first league win of the season.

Januzaj, 21, also welcomed childhood friend and international team-mate Jason Denayer to the club, tipping the on-loan Manchester City defender to make a big impact.

“Jason is a very good friend so it’s great to see him join me at Sunderland.

“He will bring a lot to the club; he is a strong defender but he’s also very relaxed on the ball, and you can tell why he fits so well with the national team.

“As I’ve said my objective is to play games and show people what I can do,” continued Januzaj.

“I’m looking forward to the next few weeks because we’re playing a lot of games against some very good teams.

“We’re hoping for our first win of the season on Monday against Everton and to do it at the Stadium of Light would make it even better.”
