Interview: Ndong looking forward

Didier Ndong has hailed the importance of team spirit as Sunderland turn their focus towards a trip to Bournemouth.

Last season the Cherries topped the Black Cats when they picked up a 2-0 win on the south coast before the two sides played out a 1-1 draw on Wearside.

And Eddie Howe’s side have made a bright start to the current campaign despite falling to a 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday, with the Cherries picking up 12 points from 10 games.

Looking ahead, Ndong admitted defeat to Arsenal was frustrating but urged togetherness on and off the pitch as the Black Cats continue to search for a first top-flight win.

“We put a lot of effort into the game and we deserved better,” said the Gabon international.

“We were very happy to make it 1-1 but we made three or four mistakes that we could have avoided.”

He continued: “We have to stick together through the good times and the bad.

“I thought we showed a good face in the second half and that’s what we will do in the next match.

“We will try our best for each other and the fans.”
