Interview: O’Shea hails Moyes arrival

John O’Shea has hailed the appointment of new manager David Moyes.

The Glaswegian replaced Sam Allardyce at the helm on Saturday and he immediately started work with the club currently undertaking a pre-season tour of France.

O’Shea, who linked up with the squad on Sunday following Euro 2016, has come up against the former Everton and Manchester United boss on many occasions, and speaking to safc.com he revealed what Moyes will bring to Wearside.

“The new manager has a fantastic pedigree and I saw a stat that he’s third or fourth highest in terms of all-time Premier League wins, so we have a manager who knows how to win football matches.

“I’ve had very tough games against his teams in the past and although he hasn’t had much time with the group yet he’s been getting his ideas across.

“There is a fantastic set-up here and everything is in place to have a good week of training as well as some games,” continued O’Shea.

“Me and Seb have been concentrating more on training, putting in some intensive work as we get back up to speed ahead of the start of the season.

“Playing in the Euros has helped us retain our fitness and hopefully we will be joining in very soon.”
