Homecoming:
Show your support

Deadline-day proved that it’s never too late to come home, as Jermain Defoe sealed an iconic return to the Stadium of Light.

And now is the perfect time for you to do the same, with tickets now on sale for the striker’s Wearside homecoming against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday (KO 3pm).

£1 from every ticket sold for this weekend’s game will be donated to the Bradley Lowery Foundation, as the 57-time England international and SAFC continue to support a cause close to all red and white hearts.

One of the greatest Premier League goalscorers of all time, Defoe returned to the North East on Monday and signed an initial contract until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

The striker scored 37 goals in 93 games in his first spell, but his legacy was about so much more and his inspirational friendship with Bradley Lowery touched millions around the world and will never be forgotten.

As the Sunderland community come together on Saturday to celebrate Defoe’s return, the 39-year-old and Gemma Lowery are encouraging supporters to play their part on and off the pitch.

Jermain Defoe said: “First and foremost, thank you for the warm welcome. We have a massive game this weekend and we need your support – we need the Stadium of Light full and it needs to be rocking. What makes the game ever more special is that for every ticket sold, £1 will be donated to the Bradley Lowery Foundation. Gemma and the guys do amazing work and you all know what it means to me and my family, so make sure you get your tickets and we’ll see you on Saturday.”

Gemma Lowery added: “From day one, Sunderland have been incredible with Bradley and we could not be happier to have our patron, Jermain, back home. This weekend the club are donating £1 to the Bradley Lowery Foundation for every ticket sold and we cannot thank everyone involved enough for their continued support. This is such a kind gesture and I encourage all fans that are able to do so to attend Saturday’s game and enjoy what I’m sure will be a truly special day.”

Supporters unable to attend Saturday’s game can also donate a ticket to the Bradley Lowery Foundation, who will be distributing them within the local community alongside Roker Report.
