Get behind: Club support Bring John Home campaign

A Sunderland supporting family have launched a campaign to bring their husband and father home after an epileptic seizure has left him stuck in a care home.

In August 2016, the life of Black Cats fan John Lindsay changed forever when he suffered a seizure at his home in Silksworth.

The 45-year-old fell down his stairs after a family day out, hitting his head and causing an instant fracture in his neck.

Father of two, John, who is now in a care home in Peterlee, was taken to Newcastle RVI where they instantly secured the break before being transferred to James Cook university hospital in Middlesbrough.

Originally, doctors feared John would be paralysed from the neck down as he was only able to communicate by blinking.

However, John’s mobility has continued to improve and now his condition sees him paralysed from the waist down and in need of 24-hour care.

In order for John to return home, £300,000 needs to be raised to adapt the family home to John’s specific needs. The door frames are also too low, with no space for the equipment John now needs.

Sunderland fans can help John reach his target by donating, here.
