Sunderland AFC U21 4-2 Leicester City U21

Sunderland AFC Under-21s returned to winning ways in the Premier League 2 with a 4-2 victory over Leicester City.

Sunderland took the lead through Harrison Jones’ first-time strike on four minutes before Sammy Braybrooke’s free-kick made it 1-1 just moments later.

Bradley Dack volleyed home on the stroke of half-time with Jones doubling the advantage with a third of the game to play. The Foxes pulled one back through Amani Richards in the final moments, but Joe Ryder sealed the victory with a stoppage-time strike.

It took just four minutes for the Lads to take the lead. Tommy Watson led the charge with a brilliant run down the left flank before firing the ball across for Jones to apply the finishing touch.

The visitors quickly responded just three minutes later as Braybrooke’s free kick just outside the area levelled the contest.

Graeme Murty’s side regained the advantage ten minutes before the break. Caden Kelly beat his man before finding Jones in a pocket of space. A looping cross to the back-post followed with Dack volleying home beyond Brad Young.

Midway through the second-half, Jones registered his second and Sunderland’s third of the evening. A well worked goal saw Dack control and cushion the ball to Tommy Lavery to send the cross in first-time for the Skipper to finish high into the net.

Ben Petty’s side grabbed their second of the evening with ten minutes to play as Richards headed home the cross. The late finish proved to be only a consolation as the Black Cats pushed on to grab a fourth in the 93rd minute. Kelly again involved teeing up Ryder to finish first-time and confirm all three points.
