Premier League 2: Under-21s set to host Brighton

Sunderland Under-21s are set to return to league action on Friday night as Brighton are the visitors at Eppleton in the Premier League 2 (7pm).

Opposition

Brighton and Hove Albion currently sit eighth in the league table having won seven, drawn two and lost five from 14.

They currently sit three places and three points above the Black Cats.

The Seagulls have just two wins from their last six league fixtures.

The U21 side is led by Shannon Ruth who oversees both professional and goalkeeping development.

Ruth began his coaching career at the age of 18 with Chelsea after a brief playing spell in non-league.

The 32-year-old has also had spells with Reading and Aldershot before making the move in 2018 to the Amex.

Mark O'Mahony leads the goalscoring charts for his club with nine goals in 10 appearances. Louis Flower sits second with five from 10.

The Premier League 2

Graeme Murty's side currently sit 11th and have the opportunity to climb up to 7th with a win.

Tottenham Hotspur are the current league leaders with 11 wins and one draw from 12 games.

Manchester City sit bottom with just one win from 14.

Following the conclusion of the season, the top 12 will qualify for next season's International Cup.
