U21 News:
Wolves match abandoned

SAFC Under-21s’ Premier League Cup Group H contest with Wolverhampton Wanderers was abandoned on Monday night after 24 minutes.

The intense fog across the North East throughout the day put the match at Eppleton in initial doubt, but it began at the scheduled time of 7pm subject to ongoing assessment from the match officials.

Caden Kelly put Sunderland in front with a penalty after just three minutes, with the score remaining 1-0 to Graeme Murty’s side until a stoppage halfway through the first half by the referee.

The officials then made the call to abandon the match a short time later.

Further information regarding this group fixture will be issued in due course.
