Academy: U18 fixtures confirmed

SAFC Under-18s can confirm their league fixtures for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

The young Lads, overseen by John Hewitson and fellow coaches at the Academy of Light, will once again compete in the Northern section of the U18 Premier League, alongside 12 fellow clubs from around the North and Midlands.

The scholars’ season will get underway on home turf on Saturday 13 August, facing Derby County at the Academy of Light. This will be followed a week later by a trip to Merseyside, meeting Everton in the U18s’ first away fixture.

The first Wear-Tyne derby of the campaign is scheduled to be played at the AoL on Saturday 17 September against Newcastle United, with the reverse fixture on Tyneside pencilled in for Saturday 14 January 2023.

The league season is due to finish in late April with matches against both Manchester clubs, as a trip to City on Saturday 22 April is followed by the season finale on Wearside against Manchester United, on Saturday 29 April.

Cup fixtures and the FA Youth Cup draw will be confirmed in due course, and supporters are reminded all fixtures are subject to change.
