U23 Preview: Under-23s take on Birmingham

Sunderland Under-23s are in action today when they take on Birmingham City Under-23s in the Premier League 2 at 1.30pm. 

 

Elliott Dickman’s side come into the contest in 9th place, with one win and two defeats from their opening three games.

 

Across the games, there has been a total of 19 goals with a 3-2 win at Burnley either side of 4-3 defeats by Fulham and Norwich City. 

 

Today’s opposition are new to the PL2 after obtaining Category One academy status in the summer, but sit bottom of the table in 14th with three defeats from three so far. 

 

Head Coach Dickman is expected to have Stephen Wearne available from the start after the midfielder played 45 minutes in his return from injury on Monday night.

 

While Ollie Younger, Ellis Taylor and Benji Kimpioka are also in line to start at Birmingham City’s academy.
