Team news: Stryjek starts for U23s on South Coast

Max Stryjek will start for Sunderland under-23s tonight against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Polish stopper was recalled from his loan spell at Sky Bet League Two club Accrington Stanley on Thursday and goes straight into action tonight on the South Coast.

The Black Cats will be aiming to return to the top of Group H in the Premier League Cup when they face Albion at 7pm, and with high hopes of doing so Elliott Dickman has handed Lee Connelly a starting berth.

Connelly is one of four second-year scholars to start for the under-23s tonight, with Jacob Young and Williams Kokolo also featuring on the bench.

Sunderland: Stryjek, J Robson, Hume, Gamble, Taylor, Storey, Diamond, Embleton, Connelly, Kimpioka, Hackett
Subs: Young, Woud, Allan, Brotherton, Kokolo
