Dickman full of praise: 'It was his best game of the season'

Elliott Dickman lavished praise on Rees Greenwood following his second-half brace this evening against Hull City.

Sunderland under-23s produced a solid display in the Premier League Cup tonight, defeating the Tigers 3-0 at North Ferriby to move top of group H.

Andrew Nelson headed the Black Cats in front on 10 minutes before Greenwood took the game by the scruff of the neck in the second 45, smacking home two strikes to ensure all three points returned to Wearside.

Speaking to safc.com, Dickman heaped praise on his team while paying particular homage to Greenwood’s double.

“It is always nice to score three goals,” he said.

“It is the first time we have done it this year, we have spoken a lot about scoring goals this season and tonight we have done it.

“Rees was very good tonight, it was his best game of the season.

“He got his goals but I thought he worked for the team, he ran back, made tackles and competed really well.

He continued: “That’s how it should be normally, but I am just really pleased he has had a good game tonight.”
