Quartet set for international action

Four players in Sunderland under-23s’ squad are set for international over the coming weeks.

Six-time capped Sam Brotherton has been called into New Zealand’s senior squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifying double header against Fiji Saturday 25 March and Tuesday 28 March.

Elliot Embleton, meanwhile, has been named in Neil Dewsnip’s England under-18s squad for their upcoming fixtures in Qatar.

The 17-year-old, has shone in a red and white shirt and has even featured on the bench on the first team three times.

Dewsnip’s young guns will face Qatar on Wednesday 22 March and again on Friday 24 March before concluding their trip with a match against Saudi Arabia on Monday 27 March.

Joel Asoro has also been included in Sweden under-21s’ squad while Max Stryjek has received a call up to Poland’s under-21s team for the first time.

Everyone at Sunderland AFC would like to wish the Lads the very best while away on international duty.
