U23s: Dickman ready for Morpeth Town test

Elliott Dickman is once again looking forward to putting his youngsters through another fitness-fuelled examination when they face Morpeth this evening.

The Black Cats kicked off their pre-season on Monday at Meadow Park and were left frustrated as Sunderland RCA defeated them 2-1.

However, following a return to their gruelling training regime at the Academy of Light this week, Dickman is keen to once again crank the Lads’ pre-preparations up a notch as the 2017-18 season creeps ever closer.

“We know what we have got to get better at,” he said.

“We have had conversations with the players where we have analysed the Sunderland RCA match.

“We did well up until a point but now we need to step up to the plate a little bit more and learn from Monday’s game.

“At this stage it is all about getting more fitness in the Lads’ legs and we will continue to build each day and from game to game,” he continued.

“It’s important we learn to deal with the physical side of games better.”

Entry to tonight’s match is priced at £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for kids.
