Sunderland’s Checkatrade Trophy fixtures have now been confirmed.
The under-21s will kick-off their second campaign in the competition at Glanford Park, with pre-season opponents Scunthorpe United up first on Tuesday 29 August (7.45pm).
One month later the Lads will face another Sky Bet League One side, with newly-promoted Doncaster Rovers playing host on Tuesday 3 October (7.30pm).
And the Black Cats’ third and final group stage outing will once again see them on the road, with a trip to Grimsby Town taking place on Wednesday 8 November (7.45pm).
