U23s:
Dickman on Hebburn Town

Elliott Dickman has welcomed the chance for Sunderland to do their bit in the community ahead of tonight’s fundraiser at Hebburn Town.

The Black Cats development team are set to take on the Northern League club, kick-off 6:30-pm, with proceeds going towards supporting the non-league side.

With just gate receipts and sponsorship the two principle sources of revenue to fund Hebburn's operations, the club are hopeful the arrival of the European finalist team will help to boost their revenue campaign.

Speaking to safc.com, under-23s boss Dickman is relishing the opportunity for his players to get out in the community and play against some tough non-league opposition.

“It is a good cause for us to go there and hopefully we can help to get a crowd in,” he said.

“It is good to support the local sides in the area and it fits into our programme as well.

“It is a great opportunity for us to go and play and it gives some of the lads who haven’t had much game time the chance to get some minutes under their belt.”

He continued: “We’re pleased to help out and do our bit. It is important we support the local community so it should be a good evening.”
