Behind the shirt: Get to know Ethan Robson

Fresh from collecting the U23 Premier League player of the month award, Ethan Robson has taken to the light in the latest edition of 'behind the shirt'...

D.O.B: 15/10/1996

POSITION: Central midfielder

NATIONALITY: English

Main assets you bring to the team?

I would say passing, a creative instinct and I feel like I am good at communicating and getting forward.

Greatest inspiration in football?

Jordan Henderson. He rose through the academy before moving to Liverpool. Since then he has become their captain as well as an England international and his story is just something I would like to follow.

How did you get into football?

My dad and my family. I have played football since I was five-years-old and it’s just carried on from there.

Greatest achievement in football?

There have been a few to be honest; getting on the bench against Shrewsbury a couple of weeks ago was great and when I signed professional aged 17, that was amazing because that was all I wanted to become as a kid.

Best goal you have scored?

Probably the one against Leicester City the other week, I don’t think I have scored many better than that!

Best game you've played in?

I would probably say that Leicester game again, the way we fought back after going behind and to round it off with that free-kick goal was special.

Who do you look up to at the club?

Lee Cattermole, as a midfielder myself, the way he plays the game, communicates and runs it is probably what I would like to be like.

Any advice for scholars?

My message would be to just give it everything you have every day. Give it your best shot and always look to improve and better your game.

Targets for the future?

At the minute I just want to keep playing games, keep playing well and hopefully impress the first-team so one day in the future I can get a chance to show everyone what I am about.
