Sunderland under-23s kicked off their Premier League 2 campaign on Sunday with a home draw against Chelsea.
Less than 24 hours after being on the substitutes bench at Manchester City, Joel Asoro shone as he handed Andy Welsh's side a well-deserved lead on the hour mark.
However, Dan Wright scored an own goal shortly after as Chelsea earned a share of the spoils in the opening weekend of fixtures.
