Papa John's EFL Trophy 2020-21
Sunderland AFC lifted its first EFL Trophy in March 2021, after a 1-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers at Wembley Stadium, thanks to Lynden Gooch's second-half winner.
The Black Cats had overcome numerous clubs in the Trophy run, including a group we shared with Aston Villa, Fleetwood Town and Carlisle United.
The knockout stages then saw us overcome Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Milton Keynes Dons, Lincoln City and finally Tranmere to earn silverware in Lee Johnson's first season on Wearside.
