A spirited Sunderland under-18s display came to nothing as Wolverhampton Wanderers clinched all three Premier League points.
Wolves scored two quick-fire goals in the opening period and that proved to be enough to defeat Mark Atkinson’s side.
The Black Cats fought their way back, with Lee Connelly going close at the end of the first period before Sam Greenwood halved the deficit.
But while Atkinson’s side continued to be persistent, defeat was endured and they were forced to return to the Academy of Light without any points.
