Max Power joined Sunderland in August 2018 on an initial loan until January, with a view to permanent move thereafter.
Moving from Wigan Athletic, the deadline-day signing became the 12th player to arrive at the Stadium of Light over the summer.
The midfielder has made over 140 appearances for Wigan during a three-year spell at the DW Stadium, during which he helped the Latics win two Sky Bet League One titles.
Born in Birkenhead, Power started his career with local side Tranmere Rovers at the age of eight, and he captained the club at every level, including first team.
The 25-year-old made his senior debut in 2011 and went on to make over 100 appearances Rovers before joining Wigan in July 2015.
