Preview: Lasses take on Lewes at Eppleton

Sunderland Women are back at Eppleton as they host Lewes FC Women in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday (KO 12noon).

 

The Lasses are still within touching distance of the top spot, sitting just two points behind Charlton with seven games to go.

 

Team news

 

Louise Griffiths is still serving her suspension for her red card against Reading and is unavailable for selection.

 

Katie Kitching is still on international duty with New Zealand and will also still miss out.

 

Opposition

 

Lewes are currently bottom of the league with 1 points from 14 games, scoring eleven goals and conceding 22.

 

Scott Booth’s side are however on good form in the league, going unbeaten in the last four games in the division, drawing their previous three and beating London City Lionesses 2-1.

 

The Rooks made a number of January signings to strengthen their squad, with Lois Roche, Jacqui Hand, Hannah Godfrey, Aimee Claypole, Lois Heuchan and Chelsea Ferguson all joining their ranks.

 

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 2-0 victory for Sunderland at the Dripping Pan, with Jenna Dear and Liz Ejupi both getting on the scoresheet.
