Preview: Lasses travel to Birmingham

Sunderland Women are looking to make it three league wins on the bounce as they travel to St. Andrews to face Birmingham City Women on Sunday (KO 2pm).

The Lasses claimed the spoils in the River Wear Derby last weekend with a 3-2 win over Durham Women at Eppleton in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Despite the visitors taking the lead twice, a debut goal from Liz Ejupi, and second-half goals from Abby Holmes and Katy Watson earned the three points for Mel Reay’s side.

Team news

The Lasses Head Coach has confirmed that Tyler Dodds is in line for a return to the squad following time out through injury.

Long-term absentees Keira Ramshaw, Abby Towers, Emily Hutchinson and Faye Mullen are all still out.

Opposition

Following relegation from the Women’s Super League last season, Birmingham now sit fourth in the Championship with 19 points from 10 games.

The Blues are in a rich vein of form in the league, winning four of their last five games. Last week, the hosts beat Sheffield United Women 1-0 on the road, with Claudia Walker scoring the only goal.
