Red and white army: Thousands travelling to Oakwell

Sunderland will be backed by phenomenal numbers when they travel to Barnsley on Saturday (KO 3pm).

Almost 4,000 tickets have been snapped up by the red and white army with Oakwell, which has a capacity of 23,287, set to be a home away from home this weekend.

Just shy of 2,000 fans travelled to Brunton Park on Tuesday to watch the Lads overcome Carlisle United in the Carabao Cup, with thousands also making their way to Gigg Lane, Carrow Road and Hillsborough in recent weeks.

And it’s not too late to secure your seat at Saturday’s game, with 800 tickets on general sale.

The clash is Sunderland’s final game before the international break and tickets are priced at £25 for adults, £18 for over-65s and 17-21s, and £10 for under-17s.

Under-12 tickets cost just £5.
