Programme Notes: Mike Dodds' message to Sunderland fans

Mike Dodds has written this message to Sunderland supporters in Red & White ahead of tomorrow's game...

Good afternoon and welcome back to the Stadium of Light for today’s game against Swansea City.

I’d like to start by extending a warm welcome to Luke Williams, his team and the Swansea supporters who make the long journey from South Wales.

I’m incredibly proud to be named interim Head Coach of this Club – I understand the responsibility and I will be doing everything I can to make it a successful end to the season.

With 13 games remaining, we’re in a strong position to compete for a play-off place, and I believe in the players and what we’re doing.

We have a very talented young squad and it’s brilliant to work with them on a day-to-day basis – they’ve applied themselves brilliantly in training this week and we’re raring to go.

Every team in this division presents a different challenge and we know Swansea will pose a threat – they play an attractive possession-based brand of football.

Today is a great opportunity for us to get back on track and we know you’ll be right behind us from the first whistle.

Finally, I’d like to send my best wishes to Tony Mowbray in his ongoing recovery. Tony played a huge role in my time at the Club so far and I’m looking forward to seeing him back on the touchline as soon as possible.

Enjoy the game.

Mike.
