Preview: Lads make trip to Huddersfield

Sunderland are on the road in midweek as they make the trip to Huddersfield Town in the Sky Bet Championship (KO 7:45pm).

The Black Cats will be looking to build on the 3-1 victory at the Stadium of Light on Saturday against Plymouth Argyle, with second-half goals from Pierre Ekwah, Jack Clarke and Jobe ensuring the three points stayed on Wearside.

Opposition

Huddersfield currently sit 21st in the Sky Bet Championship with 31 points from as many games – scoring 36 goals and conceding 52.

The Terriers have lost just one of their last five games, registering three 1-1 draws and put in a convincing 4-0 display against Sheffield Wednesday, but did lose 5-3 last time out against Southampton at St. Mary’s.

Defender Michael Helik is the host’s top scorer in the division with eight goals in 29 games from centre half. The 28-year-old scored in the reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light.

The last meeting at the John Smith’s Stadium between the two sides ended in a 2-0 victory for the Lads, with Alex Pritchard and Amad getting on the scoresheet in November 2022.
