Loan deal: Dajaku joins FC St. Gallen

Sunderland AFC confirms that Leon Dajaku has joined FC St. Gallen on loan subject to international clearance.

The 21-year-old moves to the Swiss Super League until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, joining Peter Zeidler’s side in their push to secure European football next season.

Dajaku moved to Wearside in August 2022 and registered four goals and four assists in 22 Sky Bet League One appearances, as the Club earned promotion to the second tier of English football.

The German Under-21 international has made 10 Sky Bet Championship appearances for the Black Cats during the current campaign.

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman said: “Leon made a positive impact during his first season in England and although he is a versatile forward, our attacking positions are currently occupied by some of our most high performing players. At 21 years of age, it is important for a player of his profile to gain regular game time during the second part of the campaign and this an excellent opportunity for him to do that in the Swiss top-flight. We wish him well and look forward to supporting his progress from afar.”

All at SAFC wish Leon the best of luck during his time at the Kybunpark Stadium.
