2022-23: Several pre-season fixtures confirmed

Sunderland AFC can now confirm several pre-season fixtures ahead of the 2022-23 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Alex Neil’s side will face Blyth Spartans, Gateshead FC, Rangers FC, Dundee United, Bradford City, Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool United as part of their preparations for the new season.

The Lads will return to training on 22 June, before playing behind-closed-doors fixtures against Gateshead and Blyth on Saturday 2 July at the Academy of Light.

A trip to the Algarve then awaits, with the Black Cats embarking on an eight-day training camp from 6-13 July.

The first fixture in Portugal will see the Lads face Europa League finalists Rangers on Saturday 9 July at Estádio Municipal de Albufeira (KO 8pm), with a second fixture in Albufeira to be announced in due course.

Following the trip overseas, Sunderland head north of the border to take on Dundee United on Saturday 16 July at Tannadice Park (KO 3pm), before playing League Two side Bradford on Tuesday 19 July at Valley Parade (KO 7pm).

The Black Cats then contest their penultimate friendly on Saturday 23 July against Accrington at the Wham Stadium (KO 3pm), before rounding off the summer at Hartlepool United’s Suit Direct Stadium on Monday 25 July (KO 7pm).
