Outgoing: Diamond departs on loan

Sunderland AFC today announced that Jack Diamond has joined Harrogate Town on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old heads back to Wetherby Road following a successful spell with the club in 2019-20, during which he scored in the National League Play-Off Final to help fire the Sulphurites to promotion to the EFL for the first time in their history.

Diamond returned to the Stadium of Light ahead of the 2020-21 season and gained further valuable first-team experience, making 35 appearances – 25 in Sky Bet League One – and scoring two goals.

Kristjaan Speakman said: “Jack requires the rigours and frequency of regular first-team football and we feel this is the best course of action for his development. Having enjoyed a positive spell with Harrogate previously, it’s an excellent opportunity for him to demonstrate his ability more regularly and part of the process of him working his way into our starting eleven in the future. For Jack, at his age, it’s an important period for him and we will do everything possible to ensure it is a success for him.”

All at SAFC would like to wish Jack the best of luck during his loan spell at Harrogate.
