Team news: Starting XI vs Peterborough

Josh Scowen will make his first League One start of the season for Sunderland when Peterborough United provide the opposition at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.

Scowen has been asked by manager Phil Parkinson to slot into the midfield ranks as a replacement for captain Max Power, who has not been deemed fit enough to play with a tight hamstring.

Parkinson has made three changes overall to the starting line-up that opened things up at Oxford United last weekend.

The other two changes are further up the pitch with strikers Aiden O’Brien and Danny Graham dropping to the bench. Lynden Gooch and Charlie Wyke slot in to face Posh.

SUNDERLAND: Burge; Willis, Wright, Flanagan; O’Nien, Leadbitter, Scowen, Maguire, Gooch, Hume; Wyke.

Subs: Matthews (gk), McLaughlin, O’Brien, Graham, Xhemajli, Diamond, Grigg.
