On the right track: Willis feeling good after recent run

Jordan Willis believes the fruits of Sunderland’s labour are starting to pay off.

The Black Cats claimed their second successive League One victory on Saturday to move into the play-off places once again.

Defeating Lincoln City and Wycombe Wanderers on home turf in recent weeks, the Lads are now six games unbeaten ahead of a trip to MK Dons this weekend.

Speaking to safc.com, the defender, who helped the Black Cats to their second clean sheet in their last three home games last Saturday, talked up the spirit in the camp after the Lads’ recent run.

“I am over the moon with it and you can see the mentality of it throughout the whole squad,” he said.

“We have shown that we want to work hard, put our bodies on the line for the squad and defend to keep the clean sheet so we are very happy with that.

“The new system allows me to get forward and express myself."

He continued: “The football we played in the build up was brilliant and Denver’s finish at the end was unbelievable.

“The whole team is really starting to gel now and that has shown in the results and performances we have put together.

“We need to keep that going but it’s definitely pleasing.”
