Josh Scowen was announced as Sunderland’s third signing of the January transfer window late on Monday evening.

Joining alongside Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty and Australian international Bailey Wright, the midfielder has inked a permanent deal from Championship club Queens Park Rangers.

Having made 18 appearances for the R’s already this term, the 26-year-old moves to the Stadium of Light with a proven track record after playing a key role in Barnsley’s Play-Off and EFL Trophy winning side during the 2015-16 campaign.

Speaking to safc.com in his first interview, Scowen shared his delight at signing on the dotted line before talking about his aspirations for the rest of the campaign.

“I am over the moon to get everything sorted,” he said.

“I am happy to be here, and I can’t wait to get started.

“I feel fit and having played a lot of games this season that has helped me get to where I am now.

“I am hungry and raring to go.”

He continued: “Promotion is just about momentum and keeping that run going.

“The league is tight and you never know what might happen.”
