Max Power: "We must remain focused"

Max Power is keeping his feet firmly on the deck as Sunderland begin preparations for another home double header.

Bristol Rovers provide the first challenge at the Stadium of Light on Saturday before Fleetwood Town head to the north east three days later.

The Black Cats have been in fine fettle of late of late, winning their last three in response to their defeat at Portsmouth at the start of the month.

With seven clean sheets in their last eight League One games; togetherness and team spirit have been the foundations for the Lads’ success – two vital ingredients that Power is determined to maintain.

“This isn’t a time to start getting ahead of ourselves,” he said.

“We can’t get ahead of ourselves and start getting giddy. We put the Portsmouth defeat behind us quickly and managed to bounce back.

“Now we can’t take our home form for granted because we need to go out and replicate what we have been doing. We have got a really good squad and there is a really good spirit at the moment.

“At full time on Saturday there were lads who didn’t get on come onto the pitch and were really happy for the lads who have played.

“It’s important we continue to show the togetherness we have done recently, and you can see the standards we have set ourselves,” he continued.

“There will be plenty of twists and turns between now and the end of the season so it’s important we remain level and get ready for next Saturday.”
