Team news: Lynch and De Bock nearing full fitness

Jack Ross has revealed duo Joel Lynch and Laurens De Bock are close to featuring in his first-team plans.

The pair clocked their first minutes of the season on Monday when they turned out for Elliott Dickman’s under-23s side against Middlesbrough at Eppleton CW.

But while Saturday’s trip to Bolton Wanderers is slightly too early for them to make their first senior appearance for the club, manager Ross has admitted they aren’t too far away in their quest to get up to full speed.

Speaking to the media at today’s media conference, the Black Cats boss also confirmed the latest Sunderland team news for the weekend.

“Duncan is still unavailable,” he said.

“Laurens (de Bock) and Joel (Lynch) should be available for the squad after this weekend.

“The cup game will maybe be the first one for them to contend for.

“We’ve got a couple of concerns from Tuesday, but I’d rather not say who they are at the moment.

“We’ll see how they are today and tomorrow.”
