Opposition view: Jack Grimmer previews weekend clash

Sunderland travel to Adams Park this weekend for a huge clash against early promotion contenders Wycombe Wanderers.

The Black Cats will have new boss Phil Parkinson in the dug out for the first time and a win could see the Lads rise up the table and into the play-off spots.

Wycombe’s Jack Grimmer spoke to the press this week to preview the game, and he understands it will be a tough game for his team because of a potential new manager bounce.

"That can be huge. I think that bounce is about all they get because if he comes in tomorrow, he doesn't have time to implement his style.

"But we don't have a new manager and we still have that bounce. We thrive on the bigger matches and it is definitely a game I can't wait for."

The Chairboys enjoyed a rare break since they did not play last weekend and, like the Black Cats, have came into this game with plenty of time to prepare.

"It has been a different preparation to normal because we had the weekend off without a game. It is nice to clear your head and go away and relax and that makes everyone hungrier coming in this week.

"It was very lively on Monday and Tuesday and spirits are high. Adebayo Akinfenwa scoring the penalty [equaliser against Peterborough] was crucial for us. It was important not to lose and it was huge for us mentally.

"This weekend can't come quick enough and I am really looking forward to it."
