"It's been relentless": McLaughlin enjoying time on the training pitch

Conor McLaughlin believes Sunderland now have the wind in their sails as they prepare for Lincoln City away.

The Black Cats head to Sincil Bank for the first time in 20 years on Saturday, kick-off 3pm, in search of their third straight win in all competitions.

Having endured five games in just 14 days since the last international break, matches are set to come thick and fast once more as the Lads prepare to head take in the Imps in Michael Appleton’s first home game in charge.

Speaking to safc.com, Northern Ireland international McLaughlin admitted after two wins on the back of a frustrating draw to Bolton Wanderers, the mood in the camp is good ahead of Saturday’s trip to Lincolnshire.

“The last two results have been brilliant after the Bolton away draw which we were very frustrated with,” he said.

“We got the three points and it’s a job done.

“The clean sheet in midweek helped and against MK Dons we played some great stuff, particularly in the first half.

“We were obviously frustrated to let them back into the game in the second period, but three points is three points at the end of the day.

“We take them and move on to Lincoln City on Saturday,” he continued.

“The last few weeks have been relentless with there being Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday, so a week on the training pitch will help us ahead of a big game with Lincoln.”
