Sky Bet League One: McGeady nominated for Player of the Year award

Aiden McGeady has been named in the Sky Bet League One Team of the Year and nominated for annual Player of the Year award.

The Republic of Ireland international, who collected the Player of the Month gong in February, has been named in the top XI alongside a host of players from promotion rivals Barnsley, Portsmouth, Luton Town and Doncaster Rovers.

From that, McGeady has since been shortlisted for the Player of the Year award alongside Rovers’ John Marquis and Luton’s James Collins.

The 32-year-old has been in scintillating form after missing the opening few months of the season, racking up 10 league goals and five assists as Sunderland look to secure an immediate return to the Championship.

The winner will be revealed at the 2019 EFL Awards on Sunday 7 April at the Grosvenor House Hotel Park on Park Lane in London.
