George Honeyman will be available for selection when Sunderland AFC take on Portsmouth at Wembley Stadium in the Checkatrade Trophy final.
The midfielder received a red card during the Black Cats’ fixture at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, and following an unsuccessful appeal to the Football Association, he will now serve a three-match ban.
However, the suspension will not include the Checkatrade Trophy final and will include league games only.
Honeyman will subsequently miss the Lads’ Sky Bet League One fixtures against Barnsley, Walsall and Accrington Stanley.
