Team news: Duo back to full fitness

Jack Ross has revealed that Aiden McGeady and Max Power are close to full fitness.

McGeady featured off the bench in the closing stages the Black Cats’ opening day draw at home to Oxford United while Power wasn’t named in the squad.

However, following a positive week’s work at the Academy of Light, Ross has been pleased with the progress made by the duo as the Lads prepare to head to Suffolk for their first trip of the campaign.

Speaking at today’s press conference, Ross also admitted he will remain without Charlie Wyke and Ethan Robson, with Duncan Watmore also picking up a knock that will rule him out of this weekend’s game.

“We still have some missing, but some are edging closer to full fitness,” he said.

“Aiden has done a full week training so is more or less back up to full speed now.

“Max is getting closer in terms of how much he has done but Duncan Watmore has picked up a knock so he will be unavailable.

“Charlie Wyke is still unavailable and so is Ethan Robson.”

He continued: “Those who missed a good chunk of pre-season like Aiden, Max and Chris are getting back to full fitness now.”
