Team news: Wyke leads the line

Charlie Wyke will lead the line tonight when Sunderland face Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena.

The frontman replaces Mark McNulty, who misses the game due to a hamstring injury, as Jack Ross makes one change from the side that defeated Portsmouth on Saturday.

Aiden McGeady, Chris Maguire and Lynden Gooch will once again be the supply chain, while Jordan Willis and Alim Ozturk resume their places in central defence.

On the bench, Elliot Embleton is named amongst the substitutes – and the midfielder has made a name himself before at Spotland, bagging a 25-yard screamer in the Checkatrade Trophy a couple of years ago.

Sunderland: McLaughlin, Willis, Ozturk, O’Nien, C McLaughlin, Leadbitter, Power, Gooch, Maguire, McGeady, Wyke.
Subs not used: Burge, McGeouch, Flanagan, Embleton, Dobson, Grigg, Hume.
