The Big Man: 'It's in our hands but we must keep winning' - Wyke

Charlie Wyke isn’t taking any game for granted as Peterborough United await the Lads on Easter Monday.

Sunderland head to the ABAX Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday, kick-off 3pm, eyeing another three points after they brushed Doncaster Rovers aside on Good Friday.

Jack Ross’ side produced a fine display to dismantle Donny inside the opening 45, with Wyke proving instrumental once more - bagging a goal and an assist.

While the result leaves Sunderland third with a game in hand on second place Barnsley, the big man knows only too well the importance of another three points with just 12 points left to play for.

“We keep saying that it is in our own hands if we keep winning games,” he told safc.com

“Performances like the one on Friday help with the mood around the place.

“It gives you a lot of confidence, especially when you can score two goals and keep a clean sheet so we’re flying going into Monday’s game at Peterborough.

“All the games now are massive,” he continued.

“We have got to play well, hopefully that can continue from Friday and then we can look to build in our remaining matches.”
