Chris Maguire has been nominated for the Sky Bet EFL League One Goal of the Month award.
The forward’s 25-yard strike against Burton Albion is up against the best September goals from the third tier, with Ivan Toney and Aaron Wilbraham also nominated.
Maguire has been a revelation since moving to Wearside, becoming an instant fan-favourite for his goals, assists and general on-pitch antics.
His Pirelli Stadium stunner wasn’t enough to prevent the Lads from slipping to their one and only league defeat this season, but it certainly won’t be forgotten due to its undouted quality.
The winner of the Sky Bet EFL League One Goal of the Month award is chosen by a fan poll on skysports.com, and voting is open now.
Polling will close on Monday 22 October with the winner revealed four days later.
