International duty: Asoro at the double in Sweden win

Joel Asoro scored twice as Sweden under-21s defeated Turkey to boost their qualification hopes for next summer’s UEFA European Championships in Italy.

The 18-year-old Sunderland striker got his national side off to a flying start when he opened the scoring inside seven minutes.

Svante Ingelsson then doubled the lads’ advantage five minutes before half-time to give Sweden a strong grip on the match.

Asoro then capped off a fine display from Sweden as he netted his second of the afternoon with just seven minutes remaining to extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

The result sees Sweden keep the heat on Belgium at the summit of group F, reducing their lead to just three points.

Cyprus provide Sweden with their next qualifying match next Tuesday.
