Fixture release day: Ross excited to get going

Jack Ross is excited to learn how Sunderland’s fixtures lie for the 2018-19 season, so he can begin to plan for the campaign ahead.

On Thursday morning at 9am, Ross and supporters will be given the first glimpse of the Sky Bet League One fixtures as the Black Cats prepare to compete in the third tier for only the second year in the club’s history.

In League One, the lads will come up against the likes of Portsmouth, Bradford City and Charlton Athletic, while they will also face Accrington Stanley for the first time in over 100 years.

And speaking to safc.com, Ross shared his anticipation ahead of the unveil, admitting he will ensure the lads are prepared regardless of how the fixtures lie.

“Whatever comes will be exciting for me,” he said.

“It’s a totally new challenge, but as a whole club we have to understand we’re a League One club, and that becomes a reality when the fixtures come out.

“There’s probably a freshness with that, though, and although it’s not where the supporters ideally want to be right now, they will be going to stadiums they’ve not been to before.

“In terms of who or where, I’m not bothered where we go because we have to play every team twice at some stage.”
