FIFA World Cup: Khazri ready for action

Wahbi Khazri is winning his race to be for Tunisia’s FIFA World Cup opener against England.

The Sunderland winger hasn’t played since injuring his thigh in April while on loan with Rennes, but he's expecting to line up against Gareth Southgate’s side at the Volgograd Arena on Monday.

Khazri, 26, enjoyed an impressive season in Ligue 1 and he remains vital to Tunisia’s hopes of upsetting the odds in Russia.

And speaking to safc.com, the winger said he is ready for action.

“I’m already training with my team-mates,” said Khazri.

“I feel pretty good – I’m happy to go back to work and play.”

He continued: “I may not be able to play the 90 minutes, but what really matters is that I can help the national team.

“We are aware that we have a really tough group.

“We know that the favourites to advance to the second round are Belgium and England, but we have a good team which plays well together.

“Let’s fight for it.”
