Sunderland AFC can confirm that the club’s appeal for wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment - following Didier Ndong’s red card against Cardiff - has been unsuccessful.
The midfielder was sent off in the second half at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.
Ndong will now serve a three-match ban.
