Give everything: McNair on Boro battle

Paddy McNair has vowed to give everything to the cause as Sunderland target victory over Middlesbrough this weekend.

Tuesday night ended in more disappointment for Sunderland as Chris Coleman’s side returned from the Macron Stadium empty handed.

Zac Clough’s first-half goal proved to be enough for the Trotters to secure the points, leaving the Black Cats three points adrift of safety in the Sky Bet Championship.

However, Northern Ireland international McNair, who made his first start since New Year’s Day at Bolton, believes the Black Cats’ luck will change soon if they continue to give everything in the tank.

“We were the better side and they didn’t create too many chances,” he said.

“They had a very lucky goal, but I don’t need to go into that.

“It is very frustrating, but we did play well and when you are playing well the points will come. We need that little bit of luck as well.

“All the lads in there have got it,” he continued.

“We should’ve beaten Bolton, we were the better side, but it is just a hard one to swallow.

“We have got to give it everything for the fans because we are going into Middlesbrough on Saturday and hopefully that will be the game when our luck changes.”
